Under Probability (The Normal Distribution), I think it is the last chapter in the textbook (Essentials). This is for non-CAS though, I don't know anything about the CAS course.

I just finished all the core units. I'm now gonna do a few questions from checkpoints to see if I retained the knowledge.

Thanks stonecold, you did so well in Further this year! I'll be remembering all your tips ;]

Thanks mandy.  :)

You cover this in Methods as well. :)

It's rather surprising how much of the Further course is also done in Methods.  Definately good prep!

Anyone who wants Further help, feel free to PM me.

Michael's diastolic blood pressure is 85. A sample of 50 of his co-workers have the diastolic blood pressure readings shown below. Find Michael's z-score for diastolic blood pressure.

80 70 80 80 110 88 94 74 80 80
80 90 75 80 70 90 80 82 110 70
70 90 80 70 78 80 80 70 74 80
82 82 85 100 70 80 80 90 80 80
90 70 70 100 55 60 76 90 88 88

Here's what I did:
- Found the mean of the data (assuming I did it right, is 77.9)
- Found the standard deviation (10.80, I think)
- Used the formula:

That's the wrong answer, the correct answer is 0.3720.
What am I doing wrong :[

You need to use the average mandy, not the median.  :)

Sorry you have gone wrong in two aspects to my calculations could be wrong.
i used lists and spreads on my cas and got a mean of 81.02 and a standard dev of 10.70
Hence the reason i got a difference answer your mean was wrong i did get the corect answer

85-81.02
_________
10.70               = 0.3720

Hope it helped.

Oh thank you. Somehow I got the wrong values. When you inputted the data into your calc, did you use intervals or the middle number?
