I looked at last years grade distribution. A+ cut-off was 178/240. 89/120. Youre able to drop 31 marks and still (practically) get an SS of 38+. It seems too good to be true. How would the break down go between scores like 41-43 44-47 48+? 10/120 marks dropped for a 45? Seems completely do-able. Theres so much room for error that I could probably manage an A+ if I started learning the subject a couple of months prior to the exam. :\

i was thinking of doing p.e. instead of further maths (bludge :o). though as i was already doing chemistry and psychology, I thought it would have been too difficult to do p.e. and keep up with all the reading. I'm also a person who tends to do well in exams but never SACs, so always avoided the subjects that contributed 50% of the study score.
what's the most compelling + tedious section to go through? Do you go though any body systems?

vexx, do find it easier than psychology?

i haven't done the whole course yet so i can't say for it all, but after the first part of the course and reading into the next parts / flicking through, although there seems to be a lot to memorise it doesn't actually compare to psych since that huge amount was needed to be memorised before the midyears.
this course has already appeared to be much more spaced out so a longer time to go through everything.
also, psych is far to pedantic with its 100% ROTE learning perfection, this is just understanding concepts and learning info. that doesn't have to be perfectly rote.

so yeah i guess it's easier then psych.

I am having no trouble understanding everything in psych but do I really have to memorise every single little detail? ...sounds a bit tedious for me. Can you do well without doing this?

you'll probably find you know most of it by the time you get to your exam - study will be making sure you do, and touching up on little details. i didnt do psych, but it was the same for biology and pe.

unfortunately psych is all about perfecting detail, yeah it is easy to understand it all, the concepts aren't too bad, but you just need to memorise them perfectly then do as many prac exams as you can.
i loved psych just hating studying for it, we all had to find our 'best' memorisation technique, i know of people who took a week of school last year (their only 3/4 in year 11) to write out their notes all day so it was perfect :p

i hope so for p.e, i will keep up to date with my notes & such for sac preparation, hopefully this is enough until exam time comes around.

I realised that im gonna have to teach myself the majority of the course in my own time. We're progressing so slowly in class - or is it too quickly? The teacher seems to just talk and talk, direct our attention to powerpoints, and never gives us any time to write notes. Its not necessarily a bad thing though because if I do it at home I can work at my own pace, spending more time on the parts I dont quite understand and less on the things I do. It does create a bit of work though.

Our class is taught using the same method and you have stated. So far we have taken a week to go through each chapter, which I think is pretty slow, but then we are told that we are going to slow down through the Food Fuels and physiological side of the course, which is personally where I will get ahead. So I wouldn't worry about getting ahead now, unless your that desperate, all it means is that you are memorising material longer than everyone else.

^ my teacher is the same as both of you haha.
we use a powerpoint and so far only done chapter one and our first sac is just on chapter one and such, so we need to know all of it including all that stupid trend/participation stuff.

mine was too, i think thats just how people teach p.e. dont worry about 'too fast' or 'too slow' you'll get through the course well before the exam, and that's really all that matters. its WAY too early to start stressing about p.e. .
on another note, to know it in enough detail to get high 40s, you will need to be largely self taught because my teacher certainly didnt go into enough detail in class.

hmm yeah i thought so, glad to know that you did that, because i wasn't sure haha
but my teacher seems to cover quite a bit of detail in things, but i'll add to it all.
she's a pretty good teacher she's had some 50's in the past so i guess i will be able to rely on her.
