hmm for Category 2: Non-English speaking background
it says
    * have arrived in Australia on, or after, 1 January 1998*
    * have been born outside Australia in a non-English speaking country
      OR
speak a language other than English at home
so is it both or one of these dot points?
cos i wasn't born here but i came here pretty much straight after i was born and my parents speak chinese at home

I came to australia when i was 7 and English is technically my 2nd language but I still didn't qualify for SEAS, so I really doubt that you would if you came straight after you were born!

lol I would say don't bother. its *both* of those dot points. so you have to have arrived after 1998, AND either born outside Aust or speak LOTE at home. good luck trying to prove to them you arrived after 1998!

stupid VTAC site makes it so confusing

Is SEAS taken into consideration for 1st round offers at all? Or, does it only affect middle band?

sxcalexc, you may be confusing the middle band as a separate process. The middle band is a subset of a round. In one round, middle band and the normal set of offers are done. Then, if spots become free, they will be redistributed in subsequent rounds.

Right, thanks for clarifying that coblin, I was told that middle band was only considered after the first round.

Monash don't accept SEAS do they?

EDIT: Oh, it appears CAT7 they don't

Don't Monash have some form of "low socio-economic area" category? Like just a list of suburbs which if you live in gives you special consideration?

Yeh, but my school is in a different area to my home :P I am eligible for that socio-economic category already anyway.
