A way to predict this (other than asking people who obtained SoMs in the previous years) is probably through obtaining the previous few years A+ percentage cutoffs, then adding to the cutoff ~60% of the difference between full marks and that cutoff. Example, suppose 80/90 is cutoff for physics, then you'd need about 80 + 0.6 * (90 - 80) = 86 on each exam for a 45. Of course, this is not exact, but it might give you a rough idea what sort of marks you need.

It's hard to tell. It also varies between subjects, and between years.

In physics/chem, you might have 10 to lose over both exams. Might. Don't know :P
Maths is generally more tight then that. Think biol and psych are less tight

For methods, the recesses of my brain tell me you need a perfect score to get 50, and losing more then 3-5 marks could kick you out of the 40's.  For spec, you can lose 1 mark and still get 50, I'm not sure about the 40's.

last year the highest CAS mark was 78/80 for exam 2 [and there werent dodgy questions]
so :P

Don't worry too much, I left a couple of questions blank in the 2nd Methods paper last year, which, in total, was worth about 8 marks. I still got a raw score of 40.

LOL yeah if i did lie, that would be fairly idiotic of me, since if someone was REAALLY bored/creepy, they could look up my name on the newspaper records site haha

but seriously, i was suprised to get a 50, what with losing 3 marks and all..
Nick- did you get a 43 raw or scaled?

What did your statement of marks say? What was the exact mark out of 120?

I was talking about maths subjects.  There is lots of competition in maths subjects because of all the little Ahmad's.  3-5 probably isn't accurate, but its a good aim to ensure that >40 can be done.
