Lolz, now I don't know if I want to do law at VIc uni or Journalism at RMIT? Grrr... Only have tomorrow to decide. :S
if i was you, i'd pick journalism tbh. It has a much more lively feel to it compared to law(dull) at vic uni(not the best of its kind) while RMIT is in the top 200 uni's in the world. Plus journalism can get you into the media, radio, television and/or newspaper industry that could potentially yield large pay outs. e.g. Sandra Salley. Although it is quite difficult to become of a high figure within the journalist community.

I don't like this part. :S... Do many graduates from Journalism get eloquent jobs, or is law the better option where I can just transfer after one year and go to a more prestigious uni (and find work when I finish my degree)?
if you want money i'd suggest law. But i'd consider journalism to be more rewarding.

you also got to remember alana, you need the WAM REACHED. you just cant transfere "coz you can" or coz "its a more prestigeous school"

secondly they NEED to have places for you to transfere.

either way its totally up to you.
personally id pick law, but i hold a bias stance as i wanna do law >.<

good luck! <3
i didn't understand half of that.

As if this is a place where people dont laugh at your ENTER.

ENTER does not determine how smart you are. so you can STFU now...thanks
also, PM ME if you have a problem. bring up a problem which CONCERNS ME only, not half of VN who also do the same action.
thanks

I got it, thanks Beata... I'm sure many will drop-out anyways as they get the ENTER, do law and drop-out because it wasn't for them. And the 70% average thing only makes it sweeter! :smitten:

That's arguable, a successful case can be as rewarding as an article being published or whatnot.

I have a cousin who started work at Channel 9 a few years ago and is progressing quite well as a journalist, but it's something you need to be a natural at. He hasn't done a journalism degree (neither have many in the media industry), so getting straight into the media as young as you can is something quite beneficial if you're passionate about journalism.

I guess law is the way to go then? I mean, I'm not that passionate about being in the media... I just thought RMIT had the best degree in Melbourne for it. :S

If you're not passionate about the media, then yeah, you probably shouldn't consider doing the course :D Mongolia has the best monasteries in the world, but since I'm not passionate about being a monk, I won't consider going there ;)

Good luck with law if you decide to go ahead with it.

I think the two ladies above [or so I'm lead to assume] have summed it up quite well, are you passionate about either UoM or Monash?

if so, it'll probably be for the best =]

no preference for either really :(
most of my friends are going to melbourne but clayton seems to have a better rep.. people tend to like it more...
plus i probably would never see my friends there anyway, too many different subjects.

have you considered travel?

in any case, arts at melbourne are perceived as 'better', with a range of subjects available, but there will be a 'breadth' requirement where you have to pick a subject not in the fac of arts. If that puts you off [say, if you have to study a unit of chemistry or accounting or something], then monash would be better.

and the city life is richer in UoM, though I personally like monash more because it's more spacious.

Great advice =)

Out of interest, Tea4theTillerman, what school do you go to?
