um is 55 possibly a good score, like it is possible for the cut off to be that low for

55 is aright, the cutoff your talking about is dependent on which unis u looking at. I do know in Monash last year the cutoff score was 59 but for this year it depends...

i guess its an ok score since i miss half the questions for section 1 because of the time

omg!!! me too. Section 2 was the only section I did properly. I guessed waaay too much in S1 & S3 to get anywhere near a good UMAT score(my maths methods probability skills confirm this....i used binomial, lol)

At times like these, I wish DFEE places existed.

Well, could you at least tell me where I was being condescending, so that I won't do it again?

though I am loath to say it, there is little to no chance of getting into medicine at Monash at the least(though of course there are other unis).

For future reference (i.e. those for next year), probably ppl should just say what they reckon the cut-off will be and leave it at that. It just seems all the more shattering if you say it bluntly and directly referring to them, even if they do ask for it.

How trivial is it for Mao and Excalibur to get stirred up over that? I think there's better advice, and it's for them to stop whinging for other people, about their results.

For those who were asking for proof that last year's Monash interview cut-off was 59 overall:

So I'm guessing you'd need to get over 60/61, unless you're rural

Sorry I'm not sure what it is. However, you can apply to LaTrobe in bendigo. Last year people received 2nd round offers with ENTER's of 96.something

Fair enough. I'm not sure what the actual cut-off was but there are different streams they use, like High UMAT, High ENTER, or a combination of both.

Hey people

If you applied interstate, you still have a chance. I'm afraid that the monash overall cut-off score for interview is likely to be over 60. However, if you ENTER is strong you still might be a chance for interviews at UAdel and UNSW. In the coming two months all universities that you applied too will let you know about their interview process and the rest of the application cycle.

Don't be too bummed though

When i graduated high school in 2005 i got 85 and was in a course (defered) i really didn't want to do. So after working for a year i went back to school in 2007 with the sole goal of getting in medicine. The moral being that second chances are a possibility if you want it enough, i think after the dejection of getting scores today, alot of you really need to carefully consider the options you will take for next year

BA22, did your UMAT results also improve after re-doing year 12? and what were your options if you didn't get into med the second time round? I know i sound like an interviewer, but it's good to hear from someone who's experienced it all!

Choc: I didn;t apply to med the first time round and i only sat the UMAT once (in 2007). I really had no other prefereences and hadn't given any serious thought as to what i might do if i didn't get in

Ham: That score is really all that bad, you'll be in the mix for a monash interview and quite possibly UWA, UAdel, UWS and UNCLE. But you'll have to play to the waiting game like we did

PS waiting game sucks

It's really difficult to tell, the impact of the Melbourne model is going to be hard to predict. Monash will let you know soon enough
