highest frequency gives smallest wavelength, as frequency is proportional to energy u pick the one with the greatest energy transition

How did you get 97 nm?
i got 1774... i thought it said with the smallest energy... not wavelength

Oh, right. Drat.

For Q7 in light, it had two boxes. Was it two marks for working out the value, and then a mark for the right unit?

Just wanted to make sure, maybe I can salvage a mark out of it.

I thought the last one was C, becuase it included the destructive interference resulting in cancellation of sound and therefore apparent distortion. The bit about "different freqs reflect differently" is just saying that theres a lot of freqs hitting the wall and bouncing back to superimpose...

but i could be wrong

C - Without the curtains, different frequencies will reflect differently from the walls, causing distortion due to interference effects.

D - Without the curtains, there would be multiple paths from the speaker to each member of the audience, thus causing distortion and sound loss due to interference effects in some parts of the theatre.

that's the only thing I didn't like about C.
that and, D is more "complete" in saying that there will be distortion as well as sound loss, but only in some parts

anyhow, I could be entirely wrong about different frequencies all reflecting the same...

Fidgey: it does say "smallest wavelength". sorry buddy.

that would be most probable.

That's physics for you.

Thanks!

If I didn't lose too many marks on the word questions, I should be okay.

i think for question 2 in light..
u had to talk about emission and absorption spectrum.
my teacher said this after the exam =o

Question 9 2 marks
0.0364 nm [now WHY do they want this answer in nm?! escapes me....]

I spent 10 minutes on this question, It was complete crap.  I kept thinking I'd done it wrong because it was in nanometers.

In relation to the last sound question, I chose C.  Although now I look again D does seem more complete.  VCAA may end up accepting both as solutions, on the midyear for my detailed study there was a multiple choice question where they accepted two answers.

For question 2 of the light section, did it require we have to explain how the mecury lamp was discrete (the excited atom returning to a lower energy state) or could we just say it was discrete?

HOLYCRAP HOLYCRAP HOLYCRAP

in my graph i put frequency as Y axis nd stopping voltage as X axis
how many marks do i lose?
