^ what if you're studying smart 24/7? Or at least, for the majority of your time.
If you need to study for that long you're not studying smart.

I can guarantee that if you're studying 24/7, you're not studying smart.

BTW, I'm the workshop demonstrator for Engineering Mechanics on:
Thursday 12pm - 2pm
Thursday 2.15pm - 4.15pm

IS ANYONE ON ATARNOTES IN MY WORKSHOPS?

i agree with simpak. Balance is key.
To jaffies:
Try getting good grades first in the first half of semester one and once you get at least what you consider good enough slowly start adding some co-curricular/work experience. Don't join 10 clubs and work 2 part time jobs from day1 and let your grades suffer. i don't think you can know how much workload there's going to be or how you're going to cope with the workload before even starting uni.

For engineering: Know what you have to know. Going overboard by learning out-of-syllabus material is taking you off-task from the class material.

Creating exhaustive lists of how to solve every single type of problem is time-consuming and frankly, stupid. The course outline and tutorials will stipulate what you need to know, so learn those. If you know how to do everything the course tells you, you are on-task and you will do well IN THAT COURSE.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh I wasn't at the GHS lecture today, but during the next GHS lecture I cannot wait to try and guess who Sinner and DrBroScientist are. El2012 and I can team up. Unless ofc Sinner and DrBroScientist also decided not to attend lectures or labs, in which case I'll try and spot you at Queensberry

YOU get a respect point! YOU get a respect point! EVERYBODY GETS A RESPECT POINT.
They play in the VAFA across the different divisions. AFAIK they have teams in each of the top few tiers.

EVERYBODY LOOK UNDER YOUR SEATS

BECAUSE YOU'RE ALL GOING HOME WITH A RESPECTTTTTTTT POIIIIIIIIIINT~~~~~~!!!!!

For the love of God, don't start studying before you've even started Uni. You're about to embark on a bloody hard 12 weeks, so enjoy your break!

Hahahahah this is a good point that reminded me of Flora of Victoria n___________n

Not quite, sometimes 3 upvotes will give you +1 but it'll depend on what tenth you're sitting on.

/casual slightly math related comment
/a wild trevor appears

Whoa lol, mad respect for starting and doing heaps already but is it really necessary?
...
love u. I took a similar approach and everything has turned out very well both grade and extracurricular activity wise. I think if I micromanaged or pushed myself to do things I didn't want to do, I would burn out and be miserable.  Study habits require adjustment to your personal style; many people thrive on setting clear goals alongside consistent studying/sleeping/eating habits, and do brilliantly.

I go a fortnight without doing anything but attending the mandatory tutorials, and then BAM. I WANT A NOBEL PRIZE. In a field that I invented. Advanced gastronomical fantasiology, specializing in vector butts. So I pull 15 straight hours  of study running on caffeine, and actually enjoy myself a lot.

You didn't miss anything for the first lecture! I should have skipped it too
Tutorials start week 5, this seems like such a relaxed subject so far...
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

I'm sorry...but what have they done to the Arts West since first year?!
Why the heck did they turn a large set of stairs into a weird mirror art piece.... I wonder what genius came up with that idea... :o
Now there is a queue that is about 100m long just to get into a lecture theatre  ???
