Not an early morning person, Anna?
No..can't you tell ?

Tutoring went much better tonight ! Amazing what a little bit of prep can do hahaha. Except me and my mum are in a bit of a spat over fees..currently I'm charging $15 an hour, but my mum wants me to charge around $25. Does anyone have any thoughts on this ?

Most people call me cheap and I charge 25... It comes down to how much you feel you're worth, though. I started off at 15 and slowly moved my way up.

Monash suggests $25 for an undergrad tutoring VCE.

Maybe honour the price you've got for current students until the end of term, but charge all new students $25/hr? Forewarn your current students; good for business if they've got enough time to get used to the idea and decide whether they'll continue with you, rather than you just springing it on them.

I dunno... I charged $25/hr, but when I factored in travel time even the $25 wasn't worth it to me and I stopped tutoring. This is coming from someone who didn't spend extra time prepping, but most tutors have to factor that into their prices too.

$15 is crazy cheap, particularly if you have to travel or correspond with students outside of class. I wouldn't charge less than $20 (otherwise I'd just do it for free)

Thankyou guys for the thoughts !

I am tutoring VCE, but I guess I kinda feel like if I charge 25 or even more than that, I'm ripping students off. I mean, I don't know what I have that makes me worthy of that much an hour tbh..I don't have any qualifications or experience or anything.

I think what I'm going to do is keep this girl on 15 (I've only got one student right now) and increase prices if I get any more students. Think I might change the charge rates for different subjects.

Thanks again everyone, helped me make a decision :)

So different to highschool where the teacher is above you in age, rank and authority. In year 11 & 12, at a separate campus, we could call teachers by their first name so it eased it in a bit.

Did you got to Sandy college by any chance?
Ps. sorry for posting on this thread when I don't go to monash (although I do plan on going there in the future).

It depends on your location(plus as others have said travel and preparation time)  because if someone in my area charged $30+ then they wouldn't have anyone to tutor. I think you are charging too little and $25 is definitely reasonable but I wouldn't go above that

Just curious (yes Harvey Specter plays a part in this), are bagels sold anywhere on campus?

For the first time ever, I finish early. Such a weird feeling. D:

Also two of my exams are at Clayton, and the third in some blue diamond room or something? I'm actually going to miss the racecourse...

8th, 12th, 19th, 24th. Mine's pretty spread out but I'm sort of relieved because it means more time to study between exams. Last year mine were all really close both semesters and even though it was satisfying finishing them all in one go, it was stressful! But 3 of mine are in Clayton too so more travel for me yay  -_-
