I spend the next 20 minutes thinking of a way to approach this person. I think of every possible outcome. I go through the whole conversation in my head; I practically rehearse it
eyy...I'm ready! Oh damn...where did they go!?
That's why you rehearse
beforehand - like an English exam, where you've hopefully practiced/prepared a bunch of ideas that you can then bend to the particular prompt/circumstances... during-the-exam prep doesn't work that well haha.
If I spend time thinking about whether to walk up to someone when I'm in the situation, it
does not happen - I always persuade myself out of it. If instead I give myself only three seconds to decide, and then just walk straight up and plunge in, it works okay(ish). Don't give yourself thinking time! (But like, the number of conversations that I've started off being like 'hi, I have no clue what to say or what on earth I'm doing, but hey, I'm Heidi and isn't this social situation ridiculously awkward right now?'... #SociallyAwkwardAndProudOfIt)
(on the assumption that I am also on campus haha).
Also on the assumption that you're on ATAR Notes.
...Oh wait.
possibly even consider public transport?
As someone with no conceivable option other than public transport, this burns deep.
