Yeah if I get a poor score I'd be a little crush for a while but will eventually get over it. But my parents...

Can you get a 99.95 with 5 subjects in the high 40s? Or does your 6th subject need to be in the 40s as well? I'm pretty sure I screwed up my bio exam this year :(

It's hard to get 99.95 with 5 subject or even 6 in the high 40 unless some subjects get scaled over 50 like languages or Spesh.  The minimum aggregate for 99.95 is at least 210. But the sixth subject doesn't matter much in getting a 99.95, as long as some of the top 4 gets scaled to over 50.

so with my subjects: methods, chem, further, english and psych it's impossible to get 99.95? Should I do specialist instead of further?

If you do manage to get 50s in all those subjects you might stand a chance, it use to be possible to get 99.95 like that. The aggregate required for a 99.95 is not fixed/confirmed, so it could vary slightly year to year. It's just really hard because there are many people nowadays doing Spesh +language or 2 languages. I won't say 'impossible' as the cut off varies from year to year, just really difficult.

On whether you should change from further to Spesh it's not really for me to say. You should do your own self evaluation on the pros and cons of doing either. While the Spesh scaling is good ( the A+ cutoffs are really high though), it can be extremely time consuming ( I do Spesh myself), and if you are not very confident in Spesh,  the last thing you want is for the time spent on that subject eating into other subjects you could do really well in.

I know someone who got one subject in the 30s and they still got 99.95
they didn't do spesh either.

My mum barely remembers her appointments so I thought I'd be safe until it slipped out of my mouth that the results will be coming this Monday.
😩Now she's been counting down towards that date -.-

That's definitely possible if that's your 7th subject ;P

But if it's your 6th (time to bring some handy maths in here), assuming you do the standard Asian 5 (Methods, Spesh, Chem, Physics, English) and for the sake of calculations, put any subject that doesn't scale over 50, let that be B.

The aggregate needed for a 99.95 varies between 208-211.3, we'll just put it as 211.3.

Methods - 45 --> 50
Specialist - 45 --> 54
Chem - 50 --> 50
Physics 45 --> 47
English 50 --> 50
B 30--> 30

Total score = 50+54+50+50 + 4.7+3=211.7 = 99.95

So yeah, it is indeed possible to get 99.95 without even 50s for the other 5 subjects :)

6 scaled 50s give 210, so if you dont have a score above 50 scaled then some years it isnt possible.

also if we can't set up the text how do we get our results? ive heard the vtac website is only for year 12s?

idk but if you don't do subjects which scale over 50, but you get 6 50's, in some years you still can't get 99.95?? idk

I thought year 11's could access it too?
like we use our student number
and our PIN is our DOB
don't they get mailed to us anyway?

cos I can't set up the text either :P

Yeah you don't need all 50s if some of your subjects scale to over 50, nowadays people usually get one or two 50s and still get 99.95. Bear in mind that only in 2013 a 45 in methods got scaled to a 50, it usually only scales to 48.

I have a friend who graduated in 2012 that got 48 (or 46 idk) in English, 49 in Spesh, 49 in Methods, 48 in Chemistry, 39 in Latin and 41 in Literature and still got 99.95. So sometimes you don't even need any 50s at all depending on your subjects.
