Congrats to everyone! We had many high achievers this year, and I hope you're all happy with the scores you received. If not, I'm sure you'll find a pathway to the place you want to get.

Has anyone altered their course preferences based on unexpectedly high scores?

congrats to you on your amazing results! :)

And second to what he said, hopefully you're all happy and you've all worked really hard this year! :)

I got enough for guaranteed entry into my first preference but I'm still disappointed af lol (hopefully I'm not the only one :/)

Anyone know if Monash scholarships for excellence and equity have been given out?

Yes, but I can't tell you whether or not they have all been given out. I received mine in the mail, but wasn't notified through text.

Side note, how do people even tutor? I can barely remember anything and it's only been a month  ???

Tutoring requires a helluva lot of study - not only do you have to know all your stuff, you have to be able to explain it clearly and quickly on the spot.  You'll have to relearn everything and probably spend some time explaining it to the mirror or on paper in detail first, especially if you're a person who gets tongue-tied under pressure like me.  By now with a lot of teaching I could easily pull a Bio session on any topic with no preparation, but at the start... Occasionally you'll have to apologise that you haven't looked at a certain section of the course thoroughly enough, and ask to postpone it till next week..

(My tutoring experience was mixed - a couple of absolutely bombed sessions destroyed my self esteem for life, but then 90% of them would be absolutely awesome and so much fun.)

I was thinking of tutoring Physics and maybe Methods next year, but my results don't reflect someone who has got everything down pat, even though I'm pretty confident I do. Would anyone still hire someone like that? Lets face it, how can I compete with all of you who all 45+ your subjects.

What if you pretended your were just explaining something to a friend? I got heaps of tutoring experience at school this year while helping my friends. It wasn't stressful or anything...

Will do! Honestly thinking some of these TV series should be added onto the VCE English/Literature text lists. I'd love to write text responses about Breaking Bad hahaha

It takes a few episodes to get into it though, so don't give up on it early. I think they should choose certain episodes to study, because obviously a whole series would be a bit too long. Dexter's pilot would be perfect for that.

Not quite, but it depends, all you really need is one student.

I could be sort of clutching at straws because I did get a 45+ in the subject I mainly tutor, but basically I did start with 2-3 students and word of mouth got me most of who I have now (as long as they like you, they'll refer their friends over!).

All the best though :)
45+ raw score guaranteed (or 100% refund) for 2022 Methods & Specialist (other subjects also available - classes for all) register now!

Also hiring excellent Methods, Chemistry, Physics, Biology + Specialist tutors with a passion for excellence - PM me!

We also now support Chemistry, Physics and Biology!
