That said, whichever you choose, definitely employ high modality language in your analysis.

Absolutely! Can 100% back this one up.

Using a quote twice is definitely not something against any kind of HSC rule, however depending on what it is/how long it is, its often better not to repeat yourself if you can avoid it, simply because you're trying to show the marker a really deep and rich knowledge of your text and you can often limit yourself by using the same example (and technical analysis) multiple times [obviously if you were to approach the analysis of the quote in a completely different way each time then it could totally work].

The aim is to make your themes strong enough that you should be able to find a multitude of kick ass quotes. HSC essays aren't particularly lengthy so every single quote/example matters!  :)

Thanks! Good to know!

Hi, I just have a question about condensing a title of an poem.

With, for example, 'Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening', it is awfully long title to write and seems to take so much time in my essays. Is it okay to write the entire title the first time and then refer to it at 'Stopping by Woods', or even more simply as SBW?

Thanks

Hey ktleeeee!
I think it'd be perfectly fine if you wrote the entire title of the poem the first time and then just shortened it to 'Stopping by Woods' as you said  :) - I'd probably avoid the 'SBW' just to keep it classy.
I do something similar in my Ext 1 essay since of my related texts is 'Love and Honour and Pity and Pride and Compassion and Sacrifice' (a mouthful I know!  8) ), so I just write it out once in the introduction and then refer to it as 'Love and Honour' from then on.

Hey jaya6602!
The technical analysis for Mod A is pretty similar to all the other essays you write however CONTEXT/the composer's purpose is also SUPER IMPORTANT and sort of 'counts' as technical analysis anyway. So possibly less discussion about the particular simile or metaphor that's used and more about the "big" techniques that the composer used (e.g. structure, audience positioning etc.)

Hey

I got a visual representation and critical reflection statement task coming up for school where I have to compose an A4 visual representation on One character in Macbeth (the book I studied) after listening/viewing and analyzing the play, and interpretations of the text

I also have to compose a critical reflection statement (1000-1200) words which includes
-identify the character/persona and explain why I have selected this character/persona
-explain your perspective of the character/persona views and analyse how this perspective has developed through the text
-explain how your visual representation reflects this interpretation of character/persona
-evaluate how your personal or social or historical context has influenced your interpretation of this character/persona

I will provide the marking criteria for both later

What character do you think is best in this book and why (I can't do the witches since it's only 1 character that I can do)?

What tips would you give me when doing this

Thanks

Also how do I submit a representing task for feedback? Taking a photo?

The obvious choice would be Macbeth, but Lady Macbeth might be worth a look as well! ;D I don't know too much beyond just having read the play once upon a time, but I know those would be the two main characters to look at  :)

It could be a photo (I did a similar task in Year 11 and took a photo, edited it, and printed it), or it could be something done entirely on computer. Either way, you'll either submit it electronically or print it and submit it directly, no drama either way ;D

Keep the usual things in mind. Use of visual technique will be important in the visual, and be sure that you have a clear concept in mind that you are trying to portray within the visual, because that's the purpose of the reflection  ;D be sure to make your interpretation obvious, and besides that, keep the criteria open while you work to make sure you hit your marks  ;D

If I chose macbeth then there would be too many things to talk about him

Yeah my teacher said I am allowed to do it on photoshop or either hand draw it (I suck at drawing)

What do you think would be a good image as an example?

Too much is better than too little ;) Lady Macbeth then might be who you look at then ;D

Have a think about what concept you want to represent and how you can best represent it, there many ways you could do it. Collage, photo, hand drawn, many possibilities ;D

Hey there! I'd actually say 900 is within the average range, most people write from 800-1100 based on my experiences (I got closer to 1100, I know people who sat around the 800 fairly consistently).

Remember, quality over quantity. 900 words of gold is better than 1100 words of bronze. That said, 200 words of brilliance won't go very well either. Essentially, you just have a level you need to reach. It can be done in 800 words, 900 words, 1200 words, however much you need, but you want to do it in as few words as possible, so it ultimately comes down to writing efficiently ;D

Find the right balance of your writing being to a high standard, and there being enough of it to impress the marker :)

Also, with module C, for representing people and politics, with W.H. Auden, what themes could you explore?

Thank you  :)
