Yesterday we travelled all the way from my town in central west NSW to Newcastle. It took AGGEESS. I drove from home to sydney and mum drove the rest.

I went to Newcastle open day and it made me want to go to University even more. I loved it and I especially loved the talk on Architecture and they were like naming the type of people who would do well in the course and I was like. Thats me!!

I legit want to go to uni now and skip everything but ya know theres one thing called the HSC.

I better go, Im typing on my phone. Byyyeee

Hi Caitlynk, this is fantastic that you've decided wat u want to do and which uni, this is still something that I'm still yet to figure out. Unfortunately my MCL sprain restricted me from going to USYD open day, which I was eagerly looking forward to, I really wanted to see their aeronautical faculty and the vibe. Plus, good on you for that long drive, here I am after almost 2 years with 30 hours on my L's. I hope the best for you and hope you get into Newcastle Uni!!!

HIA EVERYONE! It's been a while.

And let me telll you, I am actually fed up with school. Mainly because my dumb ass trial marks. You know, I really tried my hardest and that literally wasn't enough. What pissed me off the most is that I study my ass off while some people don't study at all and STILL get better marks than me. I got no marks over 70. I literally wanted to burn them right then and there.

We had a year meeting on Monday right and our year coordinator was like 'everyone's trials marks need improvement'. He was pretty much saying that everyone did shit. It's as if the teachers don't know anything, don't they know that we may study so hard that we are tired everyday? Don't they know that we try to work our hardest?

Well. I really just want to get it over and done with. The exams side of thing isn't my thing. Like for goodness sake, why does half our bloody mark have to be a STUPID written exam? Do they not know that many people can't deal with exam conditions and that they do well in other tasks? I'm sick of the rankings and marks that are supposedly so important.

So what I really want to say is.... FUCK YOU NESA AND YOUR STUPID EXAMS.

Excuse the language but I am literally done. Now I have to worry about my art major being handed in tomorrow. GREAT. At least that's done. I also burnt myself with a hot glue gun five minutes before I finished. Fingers crossed that I get into the course I want to because the morning that ATARs come out I'll be sitting on the floor rocking back and forth.

On 28th of September, I will be saying thank fuck its almost over. I will be running out of school like a mad women.

Anyway. Sorry for the bad language, I will make sure to shush more next time but I really needed to get it out. SORRYYYYY

Hey, Caitlynk_22!

I hope you're feeling better and that you've taken a well deserved rest after Trials  :'( The unfortunate part about our system is that there is a need to do well, not a need for learning. I have always been really critical about this and have approached my HSC year with only one goal in mind- to learn something new everyday. As someone who was very focused on ranks and was highly competitive, I have become more forgiving of myself this year and accepted that while there are obvious flaws with the education system, there must be something good to take out of it. This is the mindset I have chosen to apply and it's not too late to have it too  :)

I hope your BOW submission was a relief  :) It must've been a huge weight off your shoulders and now you can take some time off for yourself to relax before the final hurdle. I was also burnt throughout my artmaking practice with the soldering iron so that personal damage to the physical self in your process of producing a major work speaks to me on a spiritual level  :'( :'( At least it's finally over now and you won't have to worry about it anymore! You'll go into VA with 50% already done and dusted  ;D

It's good that you have let it out here where we can offer you the most support we can as a community of equally stressed teenagers under the masterminds of NESA. The exams are amplified in importance more than they should be and despite all of this, there seems to be an element of futility to the HSC in my eyes. I think that the significance of exams have taken away what should have been an enjoyable last year of high school. So, with only a few more days until your graduation, I hope you'll value the remaining time you have left as a student in the school, not as a HSC student, and treasure the final memories you'll make. Trials are over now and you can rectify everything for HSC, alongside placing priority on last moments with those that matter to you.

I hope this helps in some way and I wish you all the best! Let us know if there's some kind of support we can offer, even if it's just a safe space to rant  ;D

Angelina  ;D

Thank you so much for this. I really needed it. I ended up having a long chat with my mum on Saturday about school, my friends and my marks etc. And she made me feel a little better about everything. I think at the moment, I want to get through these last 2.5 weeks without anything bad happening. Fingers crossed everything goes well.

I also handed in my Major last Monday and gosh it was a relief to hand it in. I almost never want to see it again. I hope I get a good mark. I'm proud of my work and my teachers seem really happy with it. It's just art was my procrastination tool and now it's gone. Now I actually have to do school work. Great.

I also put in my UAC and my SRS so hopefully that goes well.

Anyway, I have work to do. BYE

Ok. Less than two weeks to go. Wow. I can't believe it. We're almost done.

So, we finish classes next Wednesday and I'm actually so excited. There's so many year 12 activities planned for the end of the week and I've been invited to a party where our whole year is going to be there. I won't be drinking alcohol, I personally hate the stuff. Also, we go to the top of the only mountain in our town and watch the sunrise, then we go to school to have breakky. Then we have to go home to get ready for the assembly at 11.. I can guarantee there will be tears next week. We are also having so many parties in class the last lessons that we will ever have. Gosh this is really sad.

Ok, I'm gonna do some study cuz ya know the HSC starts in a month. XD greeeaaat.

HI EVERYONE!

I must say I'm feeling much better than I was a couple of weeks ago. Even though I did have a cold a few days ago. NOT FUN. Anyway, the countdown has begun. Two days till we graduate fully and I am super excited! We had our last lessons today, we only had two today so most of our last classes with our teachers were on Monday and Tuesday. Hahaha those two lucky classes that got to see us last.

We ended up cleaning up a room in one of our engineering periods. Not fun. The head of DnT made us do it because our teacher wasn't there. And then we all bailed and went back to our classroom, turning on Netflix and watching Guardians of the Galaxy. I'll miss that lot.

Our very last class for the whole year was maths. To be honest I wasn't that thrilled that it was math but anyway. We played darts on the dart board I think I'd been looking at for the past two years thinking "When will I play darts?". We played in teams and guess who won! Our team! I hadn't ever played it before so it was beginners luck.

We've had to do Grad Mass practice and it's so complicated. I think I'm gonna mess up tomorrow night, I'm not looking forward to it. Tomorrow we have to practice again and also for the Grad Ball (Way off into the distance after HSC) and Grad Assembly (On Friday) . We're also going bowling tomorrow! And we're having pizza for lunch. yay.

This week has been fun. We haven't been doing much school work but I don't mind. I just want to make this week a memorable one. On Monday we had our hair in braids, tuesday was space-buns, wednesday was side pony tail and tomorrow is half up half down. All the year 7's were questioning why all the year 12 girls had their hair the same.

OH and today at lunch was Gender Bender where the girls and boys switched uniforms. Sadly I didn't get to because there wasn't enough boys in our year. I don't mind. In period 6, it was girls vs boys dodge ball but we kept losing. :(

I think I'll cry on Friday during the Grad Assembly but at least I'll be with my friends :) We are planning on going out for lunch afterwards because after the grad assembly we are officially out.

ANYWAY. I think I've written enough! I'll get back to you at the end of the week. BYEEEE

Ps I am still studying. to my dismay.

HI EVERYONE. So I officially finished high school on Friday. YAY. I must say there were a lot of tears after the Grad Mass (Thursday night) and Grad Assembly (Friday) but I think we all made it.

Also, everyone was super tired because we watched the sunrise from Mount Canobolas and it was beautiful! I had to get up to drive to my friends house at 4:30am so we could go. We also went back to school and played a little prank on the year 11s driving to school that morning, the teachers made us breakky. It was yummy.

So at the assembly I got some awards and my final ever report. Yay. As well as my graduation diploma. I got 1st in Engineering Studies, 2nd in Visual arts and Consistency and Effort in Advanced English (I'm very proud of this one). And surprisingly I got the Contribution to Visual Arts award which is a special award. there was also the Contribution to music, orchestra etc.

Anyway I gotta go. I've been doing Engineering past papers MC for the morning. I'm heading to Sydney this afternoon to go buy some grad ball shoes and to just relax for a little bit.

So, the HSC starts in 4 days and to say I'm nervous is an understatement. I'm really nervous and scared that I won't be able to remember all my quotes and write an essay that actually makes sense. At the moment I'm stressing about the five exams I have in the first 6 days of the HSC. I'm completely ignoring SOR1U and Engineering because of that 10 day gap.

I have also been sleeping really horribly. I try to go to bed earlier but my brain keeps running at a hundred miles per hour. I didn't get to sleep till 2am (I think) the other day. I went out to exercise yesterday because I thought it might help, it did somewhat. I think I ended falling asleep at around 11pm last night. I can't help but think that this may happen on Wednesday night where I REALLY need the sleep.

Damn. We're almost done. Finally. I can't help but feel excited and scared. Next year is going to be completely different to the past 13 years of school. I even got myself a tax file number because after the HSC I have to find myself a job and start working. GREAT.

I think this is the last day of the school holidays and I wonder if they're going back tomorrow. I wouldn't know...

Gah as you can tell, I'm super tense and when I try to do something I enjoy after doing hours and hours of study I feel like I'm guilty for not studying enough. Idk how to explain it. But anyway. I also have not broken down crying yet... maybe that's for after the exam but who knows.

Imma go and do something... Byee.

^You'll be sweet - I reckon in general, people remember more than they think they will in exams. Almost done. You'll get there. 👊

I did my first HSC paper. WOW. I was so nervous! I DID IT! WHOOP WHOOP

Now I just feel relieved that I've done it. I think walking in was way scarier than actually doing the exam. GO ME.
