I'll soon be following the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern diet and getting a lot of exercise -in Israel, so I'm now eating calorie-suffused festive foods without compunction. Deferred discipline ftw :)

yes! i was just in france the other day and had 15 macarons in a single day.

i blame the skin piercing winter that has filled my days with episodes of excessive eating.

before i left australia i made everyone promise me to still stay friends if i come back obese. little did they know, i wasn't joking.

sorry if this has been off-topic.
15 macarons?? C'est rien!! Last time I was in France I had Saucisson Lyonnaise -brioche filled with sausage meat. And I hope for your sake you haven't gotten the foie gras bug :P

Here's a great article about food and hedonism in Paris :)

This is probably better reading
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/sclark91.htm

His diet consists of chicken, fish, vegetables, cheese, and his own recipes (he gave me a no carb cake the other day, I think it's resulted in a heart blockage lmao)

nice nice. im actually gonna do this. cyclic ketogenic diet looks to be quite powerful.

aiming for <30g of carbs a day..

Protein Per Day
141 grams or 563 calories.

Fat Per Day
211-250 grams or 1901-2253 calories.

Protein Per Meal
47 grams or 188 calories.

Fat Per Meal
70-83 grams or 634-751 calories.

today i had:

b'fast. sustain cereal. - realised that it has 33.4g per serve :O. i am going to resort to bacon + eggs i guess. and tea,

lunch = can of tuna, a bit of cheese, omelette with tomatos, onions, cheese, and made in a pinch of Ghee, (rather than olive, veg. oil), and a cup of coffee with no sugar.
snacks - i had a tad (like ~5cm by ~2cm) of cheesecake left over from the other day.

i hope im doing this properly lol.  but ill have to see wont I!

I think you should ease yourself into keto, might be a big shock for your body!
Your dedicated for actually counting the macro-nutrients and then aiming to eat that much! It will take too much effort for me so I'll do it after VCE.

I figure dieting and such will be easier once I move out and I am buying my own groceries, rather than getting my parents to hunt down specific things for me.

hahaha good point, but the truth is that ive actually been eating minimum carbs for a while now, about a week, without actually knowing about ketosis! so its surprising i was on the right track in terms of ketogenic dieting :p the most carbs i ate during the day before today were maybe about 50 - 60 g, which come from cereal in the morning, incidental carbs from snacks, slices of fruit etc, and the few spoons of basmati rice and 1 indian roti bread.. so all i have to do now is tell my mum not to gimme any carbs during the week :p friday + saturday wooooo. :D

are you sure this keto diet thingo is actually good for you body? Our body runs on carbs...so it seems very odd to cut out most of it and have FAT as your main source of energy...it sounds quite daunting o.O

Won't you be putting on fat if you don't burn off the excess? :S

well the whole point of a diet is so that you can lose fat/weight yea? so you wouldnt just start dieting and then do no exercise! :p
i just did half of my daily cardio.. 20 mins treadmill HIIT. walking at 7km/h, to 8km/h, jogged at 10km/h, then sprints at 16/18.  so hopefully my body used up some of my glycogen and glucose!

You become fat when you fail to burn off all the carbs and fat in your body. Since you burn carbs off first, fat is stored if you eat above BMR. Keto is done to do something about insulin sensitivity or whatevs. I find keto too restricting but I'll cap off carbs at 100g and keep fats low. Works pretty well for me.

For keto to work effectively carbs need to be <50g a day. Your replacing the carbs with fats as an energy source.
Consume more calories than you need = put on weight.
Consume less calories than you need = lose weight.

Isn't the Atkin's diet based on keto? I think you can only be in ketosis for max of 2 weeks at a time...doesn't seem really sustainable in the long term..

Could be, but in this case people are using it to cut down on fat :)
